Birmingham’s Utilita Arena was alive with excitement on September 27th as fans gathered for an unforgettable night featuring Pierce the Veil and an impressive lineup of supporting acts.
With doors opening at 5:30 PM, the venue filled quickly, showcasing a vibrant crowd, many of whom dressed up as characters from the band's iconic "King for a Day" video or donned outfits inspired by their album art.
While the show wasn't sold out, the electric energy in the air was palpable, setting the stage for a night to remember.
First up was Crawlers, a band with a dedicated fan base that made their presence felt from the start.
The audience screamed every word to their songs, with fans never stopping their energetic jumps. Holly Minto, the band's dramatic frontwoman, captivated everyone with her powerful stage presence.
Their loudest track, ‘Fuck Me (I Didn’t Know How To Say), had the crowd enthralled and perfectly primed for the night ahead.
Next, Hot Mulligan took the stage with their trademark high energy. Their performance (as always) was a true pleasure to watch, filled with spontaneous interactions as fans let out random screams throughout the set.
Each song was met with massive cheers, particularly for the fan favourite "Equip Sunglasses," which had the crowd singing along with enthusiasm.
Their engaging performance ensured that the audience was fully warmed up for the rest of the night.
Cavetown were the penultimate act of the evening and they brought along a surprisingly large fanbase.
The crowd sang every word back to the quartet, creating a beautiful atmosphere of camaraderie and shared love for the music.
Their heartfelt performance resonated deeply, adding to the anticipation for the headliner.
When Pierce the Veil finally took the stage for their "I Can't Hear You" show, the energy skyrocketed. From the first note, there was no staying still as the band launched into their set with intensity.
Changes in the setlist from their Dublin show kept things fresh, and the crowd responded with multiple mini pits erupting throughout the arena.
"Floral and Fading" was a standout moment, showcasing just how loud and passionate the Brummy crowd could get.
In a moment reminiscent of classic boy band antics, the band sat down for a change of pace, but the electric guitar riffs continued to hit hard.
There were a few crowd casualties, but frontman Vic Fuentes brought them to security’s attention, showing his care for the audience and meaning they would be resolved quickly.
His presence alone sent the crowd into a frenzy, with cheers erupting whenever he ventured over to each side of the stage.
The chorus consistently being sang back to Vic & co. was impressive whilst his request for the audience to jump were met with enthusiastic compliance, proving their enduring success in perfecting their craft.
The night culminated with a performance of "King for a Day," the song that everyone had been eagerly waiting for.
The crowd's response was nothing short of thunderous, easily marking this show as one of the loudest of the year.
As the final notes rang out, it was clear that Pierce the Veil had once again delivered a spectacular performance, leaving fans buzzing long after the lights came up.
