Winterfolk provided folk lovers three full days of performances and artistry. With small stages set between two venues at the Tranzac Club and the Annex Hotel, the nights were set with various musicians and their stories to tell. The sounds of folk and blues ran through the intimate settings from Friday February 21st to Sunday February 23. ‘They Put the Folk in Winterfolk’ showcase brought the likes of James Gordon to stage, nestled in the Southern Cross room at the Tranzac, Lynn Harrison, swayed the crowd taking song requests from the crowd.

Brian Blain’s Campfire Jam offered the crowd a warm and welcomed performance. On the following day on a sunny Sunday afternoon, the performances continued with artists Jack de Keyzer and the Paul Cafcae trio serenading the crowd. Winterfolk Blues & Roots Festival Hits the Stage at The Tranzac Club & The Annex Hotel this upcoming weekend in Toronto!

From February 21 -23rd, the Winterfolk Blues & Roots Festival will hit the stage featuring a large selection of blues and roots artists and musicians. During the 3-day festival, Winterfolk will host a slew of acts at the Tranzac Club and the Annex Hotel in the City of Toronto. With various times to choose from the festival will highlight various artists and their sounds of blues, roots, folk, and in-between.

Winterfolk wristbands are available now for entry to the majority of the scheduled shows. Three nightly shows scheduled will feature the likes of Ken Whiteley, James Gordon, and a feature show ‘History of Blues Guitar and Modern Day Jam’ featuring Jack de Keyzer Blues Guitar Jam.

Bea Miller

On a brisk Tuesday night, Bea Miller rolled into town for a set at the Mod Club in Little Italy. Nigerian Kah-Lo warmed up the crowd with her upbeat tunes. As Kah-Lo and her accompanying DJ got the crowd moving, the singer taught some Nigerian phrases to the all-ages crowd. With dancing and engaging energy, Kah-Lo was a treat before the headlining songstress.

Bea Miller took us to a new level with her boisterous banter throughout the set on her “Sunsets in Outerspace” tour. Bea declared her girl-power mantra throughout with songs like S.L.U.T and the aptly named “That Bitch”. With her no-holds barred attitude she delivered an energetic set to the crowd. Her genuine connection with her fans brought a refreshing site to hold. The 20 year old has released new music throughout the year, including a collaboration with Canadian Jessie Reyez, whom she gave a shout out to during the set.

Her closing song “I Wanna Know” featuring her vocal performance on the NOTD track had the crowd jumping ending the night on a high note. See photos of show and Bea’s crowd for the night below.
